nudget ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. this policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
what we collect
- email address - to send you spending summaries
- bank transaction data - accessed read-only through Plaid, including transaction amounts, dates, merchant names, and categories
- account balances - to show your current financial snapshot
- usage data - how you interact with our emails (opens, clicks)
what we don't collect
- your bank login credentials (these go directly to Plaid)
- the ability to move or transfer money
- your full account numbers

data security
we use industry-standard encryption to protect your data. bank credentials are handled entirely by Plaid and are never stored on our servers. access tokens are encrypted at rest.
plaid and your bank data
we use Plaid to connect to your bank. when you connect your bank account, you are granting Plaid and nudget permission to access your transaction data. Plaid's privacy practices are described in their End User Privacy Policy.
we request read-only access to:
- transaction history (amounts, dates, merchant names, categories)
- account balances
- account and routing numbers (masked, for identification only)
we never have access to your bank login credentials - these are handled securely by Plaid.
other third-party services
- Resend - email delivery
- Anthropic - AI-powered insights generation (your data is not used to train AI models)
- DigitalOcean - cloud hosting
data retention
we retain your transaction data to provide accurate insights and trend analysis. when you delete your account, all your data is permanently and immediately deleted from our systems, including your bank connection, transaction history, and newsletter archives.
your rights
- delete your account and all data via the link in any email
- disconnect your bank connection at any time
